Effect of Editing and Deleting Products Linked with the Online Store

Sometimes, you may need to update product details or remove a product from the platform. But what if those products are already linked with the online store? In this article, you’ll learn the full details about how edits and deletions affect linked products.

Editing the SKU

  • When editing the SKU in Rewaa or the online store for a linked product: it will automatically update on the other platform.

  • When editing the SKU for one variation of a linked multi-variation product: only the edited variation is updated.
    💡 Example: A glass cup with colors (Blue, Red, Green). If you update the SKU for Red, only that variation will be updated.

  • When deleting the SKU from the online store: the product link will be removed, and its status will change to Not Available, but the product itself won’t be deleted from either platform.

Editing Product Quantity

Rewaa is the main source of truth for product quantities linked with the online store.

Any adjustment to quantity in Rewaa is automatically reflected in the online store, whether the adjustment comes from:

  • Manual changes in the Inventory page.

  • Sales transactions in Rewaa Cashier.

  • Purchase invoices or purchase returns.

  • Stock count or any other inventory-related transaction.

⚠️ Note: Adjusting the quantity in the online store does not affect the quantity in Rewaa.

Always update quantities in Rewaa only to avoid order errors or suspensions caused by mismatched quantities between platforms.

Editing Product Details

  • Editing product details (such as name, description, price, or category) in Rewaa or the online store does not reflect on the other platform.

  • You can sell the same product with different names and prices independently on each platform.

Effect of Deleting a Product

When deleting from Rewaa (single product, multi-variation, weighted, or service):

  • The product is deleted from Rewaa inventory only.

  • Its status changes to Not Available under Product Management.

ℹ️ Note: If an order comes from the online store containing a deleted product, the system will recreate and re-link the product automatically.

⚠️ Warning: If you delete one variation of a multi-variation product in Rewaa, the entire product will be deleted from Rewaa only, and all variations will show as Not Available in Product Management.

When deleting from the online store (single product, multi-variation, weighted, or service):

  • The product is deleted from the online store only.

  • It will no longer appear in Product Management on Rewaa (because the list displays products from the online store).

  • No further orders can be received for this product through the online store.

⚠️ Warning: If you delete one variation of a multi-variation product in the online store:

  • No orders will be accepted for the deleted variation.

  • Orders will continue for the remaining available variations.


FAQs

1. How can I re-link a product after its SKU was deleted from the online store?

Add the missing SKU and make sure it matches on both platforms.

Go to Applications > My Applications > Product Management.

Search by product name or SKU > click Link.

2. How does a negative product quantity in Rewaa reflect on the online store?

It will sync as 0 in the online store.

3. Does re-publishing a product after editing its name or price update these changes?

No. Publishing happens only once per product. Any later edits must be done manually in the online store.

4. What’s the difference between deleting a product and deleting its SKU?

  • Deleting a product: removes it entirely from the platform where it was deleted.

  • Deleting the SKU: removes only the identifier from product data, without deleting the product itself. (This is available only in the online store, not in Rewaa.)

5. Can I delete a product from Rewaa if there are pending orders on it?

No. If you try to delete it, a message will appear preventing deletion.

Click View Orders to complete or cancel all pending orders before deleting.

6. I have a linked product and want to stop syncing temporarily without deleting it or changing the SKU. Can I do that?

Yes. Go to Applications > My Applications > Product Management > search by product name or SKU > click Unlink.

The product status will change to Unlinked, and quantity syncing will stop.

7. If an order contains an unlinked product, will the order go through?

Yes, the order will be processed, but the product will show as Unlinked.

To re-link it:

  • Go to Applications > My Applications > Product Management > click Link.

  • If the product has no available quantity in Rewaa, the error status will be Insufficient Quantity.
