Track Your Financial Accounts with the General Ledger

Learn about the General Ledger report and how to export it from the Rewaa platform.

What Is the General Ledger?

The General Ledger (GL) is a digital record used to document all financial transactions for a specific accounting period — typically one fiscal year.

In Rewaa, all your financial transactions are automatically reflected in the General Ledger report, allowing you to generate an updated version at any time.

Why the General Ledger Matters

  • Records all your financial transactions in an organized and structured way.

  • Helps ensure the accuracy of your financial data.

  • Displays all Assets, Liabilities, and accounting entries, categorized by debits and credits.

Accessing the General Ledger

  1. Go to Reports > Financial > General Ledger.

  2. Click the report to view details.

  3. Select the desired time period.

  4. The data will appear based on your selections.

Filtering Results

You can filter the report by Cost Centers:

  1. Click Filter.

  2. Select the Cost Center.

  3. Click Apply.

  4. The results will update based on the selected Cost Center.

How to Read the General Ledger

  • Accounts are displayed following the Chart of Accounts structure.

  • Account names appear on the right, while Debit, Credit, and Balance columns appear on the left.

  • Totals are shown below each account group, followed by a grand total for the full account.

Exporting the Report

  1. Click Export.

  2. To export as an Excel file, select Excel File.

  3. To export as a PDF file, select PDF File.

  4. The file will be downloaded to your device.


FAQs

  1. What is the purpose of the filter next to the date?
    It filters the report by Cost Centers.

  2. Can I export a report showing suppliers and their balances?
    Yes. From the General Ledger, go to Accounts Payable (Suppliers) > click View Sub-Accounts > then Export.

  3. Can I export a report showing customers and their balances?
    Yes. From the General Ledger, go to Accounts Receivable (Customers) > click View Sub-Accounts > then Export.

  4. Do archived accounts appear in the General Ledger?
    Yes. If a journal entry was recorded for an account before it was archived, it will still appear in the General Ledger report, with the word (Archived) displayed under the account name.

  5. Can I print the General Ledger directly from the platform?
    No, the General Ledger cannot be printed directly from Rewaa.
    However, you can print it after exporting it as an Excel or PDF file.
