Track Sales by Time Period

Learn about the Sales by Time Period Report and how to export it to an Excel file.

The Sales by Time Period Report gives you an overview of your sales. It includes charts that show sales volume and the top-selling products, along with a detailed table containing daily sales for each product during the selected time period, and other data.


Access the Report

  • Go to Reports > Sales > Sales by Time Period.

  • Click the report to view details.

Filter the Results

  1. Click Filter.

  2. You can filter results by:

    • Date range

    • Product name

    • SKU

    • Location

  3. Click Apply.

Sort the Data

  1. Click the Sort by field.

  2. Select the desired sort option to display the report data.

Report Sections

  • Summary: Total sales transactions during the selected period.

  • Daily Sales Chart (excluding Tax) during the selected period.

  • Monthly Sales Chart (excluding Tax).

  • Sales per Product (daily).

  • Top 5 Selling Products during the selected period.

  • Sales per Location (excluding Tax).

Report Data

Total Number of Invoices

The total number of sales invoices and returns through POS.

Total Sales

Total completed sales, excluding VAT, minus returns and discounts.

Total Tax

The total VAT collected from selling taxable products across all rates.

Total Sales (Tax Inclusive)

Total completed sales for the customer, minus returns and discounts.

Total Sold Quantity

Total quantity of products sold, without deducting returns.

Total Returned Quantity

The number of products returned.

Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

The total cost of products sold to the customer, minus the total cost of returned products.

Total Gross Margin

Sales excluding VAT minus the cost of goods sold.

Daily Sales Table per Product

Transaction Date

The date the invoice was issued.

Product Name / SKU

Based on the data added in the product section.

Location

The branch where the sale took place.

Quantity

The number of products actually sold, with returned quantities deducted.

Sales

Total completed sales for the product, excluding VAT, minus returns and discounts.

Cost per Unit

Average cost price for selling the product.

Gross Margin

Sales excluding VAT minus the cost of goods sold.

Discount

Total discount value on the product.

Sales Tax

Total VAT collected from selling taxable products across all rates.

Sales (Tax Inclusive)

Total completed sales minus returns and discounts.

ℹ️ Note: The table contains several columns. Use the scroll bar below the table to view all columns.

Export the Report

  1. Click Export:

    • To export the daily sales per product:
      Select Sales per Product (xlsx) or Sales per Product (PDF).

    • To export the summary:
      Select Summary (xlsx).

    • To export the top 5 selling products:
      Select Export Top 5 Selling Products.

  2. The Excel file will be downloaded to your device.


FAQs

  1. Are online store sales included in the Sales by Time Period Report?
    Yes, sales are included along with the sales of the branch linked to the online store.

    ℹ️ To view total online store sales, see the Sales by Channel Report.

  2. Can I see the total sales of a product in one day?
    Yes. From the Sales by Time Period Report > click Filter > select the product name and date > click Apply.

  3. Can I identify the top-selling product on a specific day?
    Yes. From the Sales by Time Period Report > click the Sort by field > select Highest Sales first > scroll down to view the product name will appear with the sales date and all details.

  4. How can I identify products that were never sold or not sold during a specific period?

    You can identify these products from the Obsolete Inventory Report.

  5. How can I identify products that were sold but in small quantities?
    You can do this from the Product Performance Report > click the Sort by field > select Lowest Sales first.
